The rules, plainly written.

Honor Library ("we", "us", "the app") is operated by V2C Inc, a US 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 33-3915449), doing business as v2c.org. Reach us at contact@honorlibrary.org.

Honor Library is a peer-to-peer book sharing app for trusted circles of friends. You can list books you own, mark them as available to share, see what books your friends are sharing, and coordinate handoffs through your own messaging app of choice. Honor Library does not facilitate payments, deliveries, or messaging on its own platform.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Honor Library. If you are between 13 and 18, you confirm that you have permission from a parent or guardian. By using the app you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you are not barred from using the service under applicable law.

You are responsible for the activity on your account. Keep your phone secure - anyone with access to it can sign in with your phone number's verification SMS. If you lose access to your phone or suspect someone else is using your account, email us immediately.

Honor Library is built on trust between friends. When you mark a book as "Sharing," you offer it to your circle as a gift. When you accept a book, you accept it as a gift. There are no guarantees about the condition of the book, no enforcement of returns, and no formal lending. We do not mediate disputes between users. If a friend doesn't follow through, that's a human relationship matter, not something we can fix.

• Use the app for anything illegal.
• Harass, threaten, or impersonate other users.
• Use the app for commercial resale, marketplace activity, or paid lending. Honor Library is non-commercial.
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to attack the service.
• Upload content you don't have the right to share.
• List items that aren't books, or use the app to give away anything other than books.
• Create multiple accounts to game the invite system or spam others.

You keep ownership of anything you upload (photos, notes, descriptions). By posting it, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display it within the app to people in your circle, and to store it on our infrastructure for the purpose of running the service. We do not use your content for advertising or sell it.

You can delete your account at any time from the in-app Settings screen. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or harm other users. We will give notice when reasonable.

The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep the service running and accurate, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or the accuracy of book metadata fetched from third-party sources.

Books, descriptions, photos, and any other content shared by other users are their own. We don't endorse or verify them.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, V2C Inc and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app is capped at one hundred US dollars ($100) or the amount you paid us in the past twelve months, whichever is greater. (We do not currently charge for the app, so this is almost always $100.)

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved by emailing us first will be brought in the state or federal courts of Delaware.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
